Cupping Therapy

Cupping is a Next-Level Answer to Pain, Poor Blood Flow, and Much More

Cupping therapy has been around for thousands of years, and we are proud to offer the most innovative cupping options at QualityAcu. Our process involves putting special cups on your skin to create suction. It can help with a wide range of conditions and reduce pain and inflammation while increasing blood flow.

Whether you are interested in reducing pain or simply boosting relaxation, cupping could be the answer you are looking for. Contact us at 714-532-2827 to learn more.

The Origins of Cupping History

Cupping has become well-known and often used in recent years, but this resurgence is just that because cupping is far from new. It dates back to 1,550 BC and was used by many groups, including Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures.

The Difference Between Dry and Wet Cupping

There are two types of cupping: wet and dry. Both involve putting a flammable substance in a cup and setting that substance on fire. When the fire goes out, we put the cup upside down on your skin to form a vacuum. This will raise the skin and cause it to turn red due to the expansion of blood vessels. This is the process of dry cupping.

In wet cupping, there is mild suction by keeping the cup in place for around three minutes. The cup is then removed, and a small scalpel is used to make microscopic cuts in the skin, much like acupuncture, and a second suction is completed to bring the blood to the surface.

Dry cupping is performed by placing plastic suction cups to skin that is either dry or to which a lotion has been applied. By applying lotion to the afflicted region before using the suction cup, we may perform a sort of deep tissue massage on the area. It is possible to produce suction by mounting a tiny, manually operated suction pump on a valve that is attached to each suction cup, allowing us to adjust the amount of suction applied.

Multiple cups can be put to a sore or stiff region at the same time, and they can be kept on the skin for anywhere between 5 and 20 minutes. As soon as the cups are removed, red circular patches on the skin treated that match to the diameter of the cup will be seen. This is the lingering impact of the therapy – the red patches are just transitory and will go away within 2 or 3 days after the treatment.

Cupping Often Works Best in Conjunction with Acupuncture and Other Types of Therapy

Depending on the specific conditions or issues a person wants to use cupping for, it is likely that acupuncture or percussion therapy can be used in conjunction with cupping. Some of the conditions we can treat with cupping include:

  • Blood disorders like hemophilia and anemia
  • Fertility and other gynecological issues
  • Arthritis, fibromyalgia, and other rheumatic diseases
  • Migraine headaches
  • Acne, eczema, and other skin disorders
  • Anxiety
  • High blood pressure
  • Depression
  • Varicose veins
  • Bronchial congestion that is caused by asthma and/or allergies

These are just some of the issues that cupping will help you overcome. If you are interested in learning more or setting up your appointment, contact QualityAcu at 714-532-2827 for help.
