Cupping therapy can be great for skincare

Cupping therapy can be great for skincareCupping therapy is a little-known beauty secret. While face masks and eye creams do wonders, there are things that only alternative medicine can do for your skin, especially if you suffer from acne, eczema, and other skin disorders. If you are ready to have your skin glowing and looking radiant, come by Greg Maruki Acupuncture next time you in the Los Angeles area.

What is cupping therapy?

Cupping is an ancient practice dating back to 1,550 BC, when civilizations in what is now Egypt, China, and the Middle East developed the method that is very much in vogue today –– particularly in beauty hotspots like Los Angeles.

There are two main types of cupping: wet and dry. Both involve putting a safe, flammable substance in a cup and briefly setting it on fire. When the fire goes out, the warm cup is placed upside down on the patient’s skin to form a vacuum that will raise the skin and expand the blood vessels –– which is when the magic happens. More on that later.

Dry cupping is exactly what it sounds like –– cupping done on dry skin. Sometimes lotion is applied in conjunction with a deep-tissue massage that enhances results.

Wet cupping, on the other hand, is a little different. After a cup is placed and removed from the skin, a tiny scalpel is used to make microscopic cuts in the skin, and a second round of cupping is applied to bring the blood to the surface.

Benefits of cupping therapy

Cupping therapy can be great for a wide range of purposes. Its ameliorative properties lie on what it does to your blood vessels. Once applied to your skin, the suction cups expand your blood vessels and thereby facilitate oxygen flow. You might be surprised to know that something as simple as increasing oxygen flow can have tremendous positive impacts on your health –– inlacing your skin’s appearance and performance.

While it is true that most people turn to acupuncture to treat conditions such as chronic pain, headaches, and the like, cupping therapy is also great as a skincare regimen.

Cupping therapy can do wonders for your skin. It can help treat and manage acne, eczema, and other skin disorders. Forget about expensive face wash or avoiding dairy –– if you want your skin in mint condition, consider booking an acupuncture session. We know just the place.
